New Customer Grayslake Community Park District
June 2025 On June 1, 2025, the Grayslake Community Park District contracted and joined on as the newest client of L6 Technology. Both the management and technical team at L6 is delighted to have Grayslake Community Park District aboard so we can begin to prepare and deploy a new IT strategic direction for this first-rate community government agency. The Park District was established in 1959 and is primarily coterminous with the Village of Grayslake and also includes eastern portions of the Village of Hainesville. In addition to numerous recreational programs, camps, sports and leagues, the district offers a community center, preschool, golf course, beach, splash pad and numerous parks. The agency is governed by seven elected officials (Commissioners) and led by its Executive Director Kristin Splitt, who oversees three departments (administration, recreation and park maintenance). The Park District has expressed a commitment to improving and expanding its services, including its use and maintenance of technology. L6 Technology is excited to partner with the Grayslake Community Park District in helping them achieve innovative technology solutions.

When Your Gut Talks, Listen!
Have you heard the expression “trust your gut”? The expression suggests going with your instincts when making a decision. According to an article by Melody Wilding of HBR.org, Scientists call the stomach the “second brain” for a reason. There’s a vast neural network of 100 million neurons lining your entire digestive tract. That’s more neurons than are found in the spinal cord, which points to the gut’s incredible processing abilities. “Trusting your gut” certainly applies to managing your IT systems and considering the hiring of an outside IT Vendor. Chances are, if some systems are not working quite right, or it’s been a while since you have gotten a “check-up”, it makes sense to assess your systems’ security, efficiency, and connectivity. When you are looking for a vendor to do an initial assessment or one to manage your IT more regularly, what should you look for? What should you expect? First and foremost is TRUST. As the client, you may not be as well-versed and experienced in IT. The IT vendor’s job is to be the expert and handle all things associated with adequately assessing and managing your IT systems. This includes ensuring the client’s technology is efficient, protected, monitored, and safe against hacks and infiltration. As the client, you should always receive regular and proactive COMMUNICATION from the commencement of your working relationship. You should not just hear from your IT vendor when there is a problem. Following the initial assessment, your vendor should bring forth ideas, identify concerns, and reach out frequently to educate you and your staff on how your systems can be improved and enhanced. Your IT vendor must be RELIABLE. This includes having a quality helpdesk that responds promptly. They should not only solve your IT issues when they happen. They should formulate ways to prevent reoccurrence. Systems should be monitored, and any concerns should be shared and rectified. A reliable IT vendor will do all these things and more. Technology is constantly changing, and so are the techniques used to abuse systems and ways to capitalize on an agency or company’s complacency. Security should be approached strategically. A good vendor is STRATEGIC, dealing with constantly shifting and evolving platforms. Building and managing an IT plan is key to the success and safety of your systems. Assessing your IT and associated systems is a priority for a successful, secure agency or business. When you search for a vendor, make sure you include trust, reliability, and strategy in your expectations and require a guarantee that you are getting what you pay for. When it comes right down to it, you may sleep better at night if you know your systems, data, and information are safe and secure. Is it time for you to listen to your gut?

Release Your Zesty Character- Get A Custom Digital Caricature We are delighted to have Ellen Lustig, a digital caricature artist, join us at our booth this year on Friday, Jan. 24th from 9-12pm and then again from 1pm-3pm. Ellen started drawing her caricatures in grade school because she wanted to make her friends laugh. Then at 16 she had her own caricature drawn which sparked a passion for it and other art mediums. She began to advertise her caricature talents and has done it ever since. Ellen attended art school and besides being a digital caricaturist she is also a sculptor, painter and blues keyboard musician. Come and have some fun with L6 and Ellen at booth # 805.

For decades, Winfield Park District has been delivering year-round quality recreational amenities, services and programs for its residents. Understanding the importance and benefits of having dependable information technology with the goal of enhancing and protecting this vital asset, Winfield’s administrative team and Board of Commissioners selected L6 Technology as its sole IT managed services vendor. L6 Technology is excited to work with Winfield Park District and has already made valuable changes to improve the district’s technology. The Park is a special governmental agency established in 1925 to provide recreational facilities for all age groups. The district serves an estimated population of 74,409 with approximately 715 acres of park land. This vast park system includes community parks, playgrounds, pools, fitness center, tennis centers and golf courses. We look forward to building a strong and lasting relationship with Arlington Heights Park District which will allow them to reach new heights.
